Throughout the 2020s, there’s been a news emergence of style shaping the modern youth. Brands like Lululemon, Free People, Fabletics, and Alo have taken over girls athletic wear. Similarly, the middle part and slick back have replaced side ponytails and side parts of the 2000s. Shoes like Hoka’s, New Balance, Brooks and Uggs have monopolized popular footwear. Aviator Nation and Daily Drills have taken on popularity in wealthier families along with Lululemon becoming less of a luxury and more of a commodity. Parke Sweatshirts have also become a very popular item in the closets of teen girls; whereas teen boys are leaning towards Lululemon and Alo athletic wear including their shorts and sweatsuits. Teen guys also utilize Ariat, particularly their vests, for dances and formal wear in a more country setting.
Other fashion items include claw clips and zig zag headbands, thrifting, barrel jeans, overalls, Kendra Scott and James Avery jewelry, along with anything decorated with tiny bows. Some fads would be pop its, labubus, hacky sacks, and needohs.
The fads, however, were not a super prominent thing among high-schoolers, instead it would be music and TV that seems to shape our childhood. Some famous music artists are Gracie Abrams, Morgan Wallen, Lana Del Ray, Noah Khan, Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo, Frank Ocean, Bruno Mars, Post Malone, Travis Scott, and so many more. Popular TV shows include “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” “Stranger Things,” “Outer Banks,” “K-pop Demon Hunters,” “Barbie”, “The Minecraft Movie,” “Interstellar,” “Project Hail Mary,” and various types of Japanese Anime. Along with these are also “The Office,” “Invincible,” “Dance Moms,” and “Pulp Fiction.”
Fashion changed as expected, but technology has also made a huge presence. While phones continue to improve, I pods have lost popularity while smart watches and Air pods have become regular household items. Not only were technological items innovating, but the software inside of them also began to change. Artificial Intelligence has become a huge part of the education and business worlds.
Anyways, these are the things that have been so popular in my childhood and will hopefully serve as a way for future generations to compare their trends with.
