The Wylie Varsity Belles lit up the stage once again at their annual spring showcase, delivering an evening filled with precision, passion, and undeniable talent. From high-energy jazz routines to emotionally driven contemporary pieces, the performance gave the audience a glimpse into the hard work and artistry that define the team.
“When it came to emotion, I honestly had to go big or go home. I thought about what a blessing it has been to dance on such an amazing team and bring out all of the emotions that came with that out and onto the stage. If it was an upbeat dance, then I thought of all the fun and joy I was having and that this team has brought to me and the community. If it was an emotional routine, then I thought of the people on the team that I will never get to dance with again and how bittersweet that is. Sometimes the tears or bright smiles weren’t fake.” -Landry Nobles, sophomore Chaplin.
The showcase featured a variety of styles, each routine demonstrating the team’s versatility and technical ability. The team’s synchronization and sharp execution were especially evident in their group numbers, where every kick, every turn, and formation change was performed with confidence and control. The crowd responded with enthusiastic applause, clearly impressed by the level of discipline and performance quality.
In addition to full-team routines, smaller group performances, and solos allowed individual dancers to shine. These pieces highlighted not only strong technique but also storytelling and emotional expression. Several contemporary performances stood out for their depth, bringing the audience to tears. The jazz, or, more upbeat dances drew the audience in and created powerful moments on the stage.
“The dance that stood out to me was their intro piece that they performed at the Dallas Mavs game. I loved how each class got a chance to be recognized and show off their skills. I thought it was cool how the freshman’s part had a lot of tricks in it, how the sophomore’s part was so clean and concise, how the junior’s part had personality, and how the senior’s part had their talent on full display. My favorite part was absolutely when they came out together to do their kick line and kicked in a circle, you could see kicks from all aspects. It was really cool to see their talent light up the stage.” -Mya Mundle, Sophomore, Varsity Track Member.
Behind the scenes, the showcase represented months of preparation. Dancers balanced rehearsals with school responsibilities, dedicating countless hours to perfecting choreography, and building endurance.
The performance showed just how much work goes in behind the scenes, with every routine feeling intentional and genuinely powerful to watch.

Beyond the dancing itself, the showcase emphasized the sense of community within the Belles. Teammates supported and encouraged one another throughout the nights, creating an uplifting environment both on and off stage. This unity translated into their performances, making each of the routines feel cohesive and connected.
“Something the audience doesn’t get to see is all the mayhem backstage. Someone lost an earring, someone is missing a shoe, and someone doesn’t know where a part of their costume is. But right after those panicked call outs, is someone offering an extra earring, letting someone borrow their show, or helping them with costume catastrophes. It only takes one second for a dancer to analyze how much time they have between dances and costume changes, so when something isn’t where they put it then it’s easy to panic. Luckily, our team is very close and always willing to help each other out. I can’t even count all the times I gave someone something to borrow, or helped someone with costume changes. Showcase is a stressful but memorable time, and I’m so grateful I got to experience it with these girls!” -Jordan Thomas, Sophomore Belle.
The event also served as an opportunity for the team to connect with the community. Family members, friends, and supporters filled the audience, showing their appreciation for the dancers’ efforts. Their presence added to the energy of the night and reinforced the importance of the program within the school.
Overall, the Wylie Varsity Belles Showcase was a success, celebrating not only the dancers’ technical skill but also their passion and dedication. As the team looks ahead to future performances, the showcase stands as a strong reminder of what can be achieved through hard work, perseverance, and a shared love for dance.
