Elsie Stark, a fifth grader at Wylie West Junior High, recently competed in the popular Food Network Show: Kids Baking Championship. At the time of the competition, she was nine years old, making her the youngest baker this season. Placing in the top five, Elsie made a positive impact on Abilene and all who watched the show this season. Right from the start, Elsie made it into the top group of bakers in the very first competition. She successfully continued in the show through the eighth episode, and ended up in fifth place overall.
Elsie began baking when she was just two years old, proving that she had a promising path ahead of her. She continued to cook as a hobby, and her dream eventually came true when she was selected to participate in the well-known baking show. While on the show, she wasn’t just a talented baker. Elsie was seen as a lively, positive friend to everyone throughout the season. Many of the competitors became close friends, and most of them keep in touch even though to show is over. The bakers all supported each other, even though they were all constantly going against one another in a competition. Throughout the whole season, Elsie proved to be an amazing baker and an even better friend.
As a result of all her hard work, the City Council of Abilene established March 14 as Elsie Stark Day. March 14th also happens to be pi[e] day, which makes it even more fitting. This acknowledges the way Elsie represented the city and how she brought joy to many of the viewers in Abilene. Abilene couldn’t be more proud of Elsie and her amazing impact on our town.
