Bulldogs: Determined to Become District Champs

The Wylie Bulldogs are starting off their District schedule undefeated. The Bulldogs dominated against the Brownfield Cubs with a win of 50-7 leading into the bi week. In an intense game against the Brownwood Lions, the Bulldogs persevered through triple overtime to a win of 45-38, keeping the title “Wyliewood” alive until next year. Then, Wylie won against the Big Spring Steers by a whopping 42-6. On homecoming night, the Bulldogs played against the Snyder Tigers with a leading victory of 27-7.

“We try to embrace homecoming in that each event is building up to the game, but at 7:30 we better be ready to play,” Sandifer said.

Due to the second open week of the season, Wylie will be playing their last district game against Stephenville on Friday, November 10.

“It gives the injured players time to heal and possibly to be able to come back on the field,” Sandifer said.

Playoffs will be beginning soon allowing the players to display how much they will be persevering through each game in hopes to make it to the ultimate goal-state.

“It’s an exciting time of the season knowing that we are going to play past the season and that a lot of players know that next week is their final week of football,” Sandifer said.

The homecoming week was filled with all different events leading up to the game. Students demonstrated their school spirit by dressing up each day depending upon the dress-up day. There was Pajama Day, Tourist Day, Superhero Day, and Purple & Gold Day. The homecoming game’s halftime included the Wylie 2017 homecoming court and queen (Claire Preston) based on student votes.
