As the regular season comes to and end, the Bulldogs are setting hopes high on a big post season run. They are hoping to have another title shot, but for now are focusing one game at a time.

To recap the season, the Bulldogs finished off with a final record of (17-11-1), taking the third place spot in district. The Bulldogs started off the season strong before falling into a slump midway through the season. During early March, things were not looking so good; however, the Bulldogs were able to turn things around just in time for district play.

Of course, things would not be easy sailing from here. The Bulldogs were placed in a very tough district and would certainly need to play even better than they had been if they wanted a chance at making the playoffs. They were able to keep their momentum going the first few weeks of district racking up some big time wins against tough district opponents; however, with just a few weeks left of district, they soon fell back into the 5th place spot with no guaranteed chance of playoffs.

As district play progressed with a close three way tie for first place, each win was huge in determining who would and wouldn’t be playing in May. With just enough juice, the Bulldogs were able to clinch a playoff birth with a big time victory over Lubbock High on senior night and Lubbock Coronado the following week.

This weekend is when the fun begins. The Wylie Bulldogs will face off against the Plainview Bulldogs in a highly anticipated 3 game series. Tonight at 5pm is when the series will kick off here at home for the Baseball team on some familiar turf. Junior Collin Bruning, states, “We’re not too nervous; we know we just have to go out there and do our jobs. Just kind of have to make smart decisions and play ball.” His fellow teammate, Braden Regala, agreed with him and added that his goals were “To play clean baseball and execute offensively and defensively but the main focus for tonight is to do everything we can to win.”

Tonight is sure to be an exciting matchup in front of a large home crowd for the team. Without a doubt, it’s a game you won’t want to miss.
