Wylie Sweeps in District UIL

Wylie High School’s UIL students competed in a District Meet in Lubbock, Texas for a chance to go to the Regional Meet on April 21st and 22nd. The Wylie students went and performed amazingly in the meet and have many competitors advancing to the next round of UIL competition. Their outstanding performance earned them the #1 spot in the entire meet.  Here are some of the top performers from the District Meet:

Ayden Gertiser- 1st place in Calculator, Math, Science. As well as second place in Number Sense

Nathan Vincent- 1st place in Computer Science

Allison McCall- 1st place in Feature Writing

Brendan Hurt- 1st place in Informative Speaking

Meg Siewart- 1st place in Poetry

Alexa Mendoza- 1st place in Prose

Tehzeeb Grewal- 2nd place in Spelling

Carson Wells- 2nd place in Lincoln Douglass Debate

Grace Rhodes- 2nd place in Editorial Writing

Josh Corrigan- 2nd place in Informative Speaking

The Social Studies Team, led by Mr. Dowell, sweeps the top 4 places to earn the spot as the number one Social Studies team. The team consists of Anthony Tovar, Canyon South, Jacob Wristen, and Shaylee Bahner.

Also, the Literary Criticism Team achieved a similar achievement and even more. The team earned the top 6 spots in rankings and earned the #1 spot for Literary Criticism teams. The team is made up of Alicia Correa Trujillo, Annabelle Gertiser, Kathryn Anderson, Ella McClung, Gracie Hurst, and Grace Rhodes.
