Wylie D.I.’s High Hopes

Wylie D.I.’s High Hopes

McKenzie McElyea, staff writer

This year, the teams competing in D.I. (Destination Imagination) hope to go far! With 12 teams competing in different levels, we’re sure to see several advance. But first, they must make it past the regional competition on February 26th in Midlothian, Texas.
Our region, or the Greater Fort Worth region, is one of the biggest in Texas and sees a substantial number of teams competing. Only a few get to move on per level and challenge, so it’s very tight competition.
Our school district has 12 teams; 5 elementary teams, 4 middle level teams, and 3 senior (high school) level teams, each of which have individually chosen one or more challenges out of 6, each that focus on a different aspect of STEAM.
If our teams are chosen to move on, then they will be competing in a state-wide competition at the University of Texas at Arlington. Then, they’ll be competing against teams across the whole state of Texas in order to go on to compete globally.
We wish our teams good luck in their competition next weekend, and hope to hear their names called to move on.
