With basketball season coming to a close, the Wylie Bulldogs are now turning their attention to the upcoming track and field season.

Last season was a successful one for the Bulldog track and field program. 4 individuals and 1 team made it to the regional meet for the boys last year. The girls had 5 individuals and 2 teams advance to Regionals. In addition to this, two school records were broken by the boys (in the 4×200 meter relay and the 400 meter dash) and another two were broken by the Lady Dawgs (in the 800 meter run and the high jump). Both teams are very optimistic after such a strong season.

After the end of last year, 16 seniors left the track program for the boys and 8 left for the girls. Despite losing some athletes, senior Abbie Gollihar says she is looking forward to the new faces coming into the program. “I’m really looking forward to seeing all the good things coming with these changes. Leaders are going to be stepping up and teaching all of the younger athletes.” It will be exciting to see new athletes take a leadership role in the program.

The Bulldogs are also looking forward to an enormous advantage this year: The district meet will be held at Bulldog Stadium. Being at home will allow both teams to feel more comfortable at the meet because they will have been practicing at that same track for several months. This will also allow a large amount of fans to come out and support their Bulldogs.

Make sure to come out this season and support your Bulldogs! The track and field schedule is posted on the Wylie Bulldogs website.
