On April 26th and 27th, the 2019 UIL Regional Track Meet took place in San Angelo, at the Lowery Field. Both the Wylie girls and guys track team qualified to move on to compete in the regional track meet, competing with over 30 schools. The Lady Bulldogs placed 14th out of 41, scoring a total of 14 points. The Wylie boys came in 34th pace out of 38, scoring a total of 1 point. Although both teams did not advance to State, their hard work and dedication was shown all throughout their track season, making it all the was to regions, almost to the very end.

 

Lady Bulldog Track Results:

In the women’s 1-5A 800 meters, Abbigayle Gollihar finished third with a time of 2:18.65 as well as setting her new personal record, being one place away from going to State.

 

In the women’s 1-5A 100 meter hurdles, Ambria Brekke ran a time of 15.28 seconds, placing 6th in the prelims. Then on Saturday, April 27th, Ambria ran a time of 15.23 seconds finishing 5th in the finals.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In the women’s 1-5A 300 meter hurdles, Madison Latham ran a time of 46.72 seconds finishing 5th in the prelims. She placed 4th in the finals, finishing with the time of 46.46 seconds.

In the Lady Bulldogs 4 by 200 meter relay team, with Kylie Thornton, Abbigayle Gollihar, Maci Kirk, and Leandra Benton, the girls worked hard together to finish 10th with a time of 1:45.96.

The Lady Bulldogs 4 by 400 meter relay team, with Madison Latham, Abbigayle Gollihar, Kylie Thornton, Leandra Benton, took 3rd place in the prelims with the time of 4:04.19. The next day they placed 6th in the finals with the time of 4:06.21.

Lady Bulldog, Madison Latham, placed 11th in the finals for long jump with 16-10.50.

Dusti Grant jumped a 34- 8.00, placing 14th in the final.

Wylie Boys’ Track:

In the boys’ 1-5A 400 meters, Hayden Keidl ran the 400 meters in 51.52 seconds finishing 4th in the finals.

In the boys’ 1-5A 800 meters, Victor Charo placed 14th in the finals with the time of 2:03.32, and Ryan Elizando finished right behind Victor, in 15th place, with the time of 2:04.30.

The Wylie boys’ 4 by 2 relay team, Hayden Keidl, Brandon Sanders, Cutter Edwards, Christian Ramirez, placed 8th with the time of 1:30.12.

Stran Blair, a junior at Wylie High School, placed 7th in the finals with a jump of 6-00.00.

The 2018-2019 track season is sadly over, but the athletes finished strong and were dedicated to advancing in every track meet to make it all the way to the Regional Meet.
