On February 24th, the Wylie boys began the season with a 3-3 tie against the Shallowater Mustangs. It may have not been a victory but makes sense considering the past history of the two teams. After a close game against Seminole that ended with a score of 13-12, the Bulldogs started a winning streak that lasted through nine consecutive games. On March 3, the Wylie boys scored a landslide of 27-0 against Wichita Falls, which definitely increased the Bulldogs’ confidence for the rest of the season.

The Bulldogs played an almost perfect district game against the Brownwood Lions with an ending score of 11-3. Blake Smith, pitcher, dominated the field as he wouldn’t allow any Lion to pass onto first base. He made it impossible for them to score, while putting a lot of pressure on them throughout the game.

The district game against Sweetwater began on a rocky start as they both were pulling a score of 2 until the Bulldogs pushed ahead to end the game of 8-2. It may have brought uncertainties among the Bulldogs, but it revealed how strong they were able to handle the competition.

The team’s goal for this season is to focus on individual improvement and then putting it together as cleanly as possible. Each game is an opportunity to practice consistency until the actual playoffs begin. The Wylie Bulldogs have been successful during their district games and will hopefully lead into playoffs with the same amount of ease. There is a good chance that this year could be the third year in a row that they will be playing in the state game.
