The FCCLA club at Wylie High School, led by Mrs. Blakely and Mrs. Peacock, has been busy making a difference in the community. Recently, FCCLA members spent the morning after the homecoming game cleaning up the bleachers. They helped keep the school grounds and bleachers clean for everyone.
This isn’t the first time FCCLA students have volunteered. In the past, they helped pack food at a local food bank, and later this year, they plan to visit a nearby nursing home. There are many more volunteer activities planned, including charity events like canned food drives.
Students enjoy being in FCCLA for many reasons. They like giving back to the community, making new friends, and learning valuable skills that help them in school and beyond. Activities like volunteering teach teamwork, responsibility, and leadership, all while having fun and meeting new people.
FCCLA isn’t just about volunteering, though. The club also focuses on personal growth and community involvement. Members say it feels good to help out and see the positive impact of their work, whether it’s cleaning up after a game or organizing food drives.
