UIL academics season has officially wrapped up, and with that the state competition has come and gone. Students at Wylie have competed through three rounds of increasingly competitive meets to separate themselves from hundreds of others to reach the state meet. Despite the harsh odds of making it, our school had 2 teams place silver and 4 individuals medal in their respective events at state. Below are the results of the meet.
Social Studies
Anthony Tovar placed 3rd individually, earning a bronze medal.
The Social Studies team, consisting of Anthony Tovar, Canyon South, Crisha Mansuetto, and Ella McClung, placed second overall as a team, earning the team 4 silver medals.
Literary Criticism
Annabelle Gertiser placed 4th individually, earning a medal.
The Literary Criticism Team, consisting of Annabelle Gertiser, Alicia Correa Trujillo, Ella McClung, and Arabella Dlugiewicz, placed second overall as a team, earning the team 4 silver medals.
Spelling
Tehzeeb Grewal placed first individually, earning a gold medal. The 96 that she got on the test was the highest in the state across all Divisions.
Headline Writing
Kolby Corbett placed 6th individually, earning him a medal.
