Wylie High School just recently put on its 24 hour musical play Footloose. Wylie students had only 24 hours to prepare for the play. Despite the condensed time for students’ preparation, the quality of the play was wonderful. The play was evidently made with heart. Students poured in passionate performances. I was particularly impressed with Ryan Ross’ character of the preacher. He played the part extremely well and his singing parts were incredible. Another aspect of the performance I was genuinely impressed with was the choreography. The dances were well put together and well directed. That leads me to my next praise of the musical. The direction. Mrs. Jones chose a great cast and did an amazing job putting the play as a whole together. Students loved working with Mrs. Jones. I spoke to Emerie Nicholson, a student here at Wylie about the play.
“It was a great time, we all loved being there. LowJo, what we called Mrs. Jones, is an amazing teacher and person, and she made me love being there.”
It’s obvious students and audience members alike loved the musical. Wylie puts on many of these plays, and I implore students to go to as many of these as possible to support our theater program.
