Applications have been submitted, and votes have been tallied. It’s official. The 2024-2025 NHS officers have been announced! Sophomore Keltie Templin will be filling the position of Treasurer, junior Lorly Sardual will be acting as Secretary, junior Tehzeeb Grewal will be serving as Vice President and junior Justice McGuiness will be leading under the role of President. With Tehzeeb and Justice finishing their time as 2023-2024 NHS Treasurer and Secretary respectively, they look to continue their leadership and service to their fellow NHS members and the community. Keltie has been quite active in UIL academics, and Lorly has been a shining member of the Pure Gold Band, meaning both show great promise to succeed as officers for the 2024-2025 school year. NHS is an organization built on its 4 pillars: Scholarship, Service, Character, and Leadership. As these officers head into the next school year, they will look to be role models for their classmates. They will look to lead by example, showing why service to the community is important. While being a part of NHS at Wylie High School has always been of high honor, these officers look to better the organization, by creating more exposure for it around the school and by making internal improvements that will benefit its members. Sophomores who were inducted are required to complete 40 service hours from at least two different nonprofit organizations. For juniors inducted this year, they must complete 20 hours. The officers will look to aid these inductees in any way they can, helping to ensure that service to the Abilene community runs as smoothly as possible. While it is not known what is in store for the upcoming school year, it is certain that the newly elected officers will bring change to the organization, and they will invite their fellow members to join them in maintaining good grades, good character, leadership, and service to others.
