Often times throughout life, we are faced with obstacles that seem to tower over us. Thoughts shoot through our heads telling us we cannot do it, and we are not strong enough. Whether you are facing feelings of loneliness, or you feel as if life is suffocating you, it is important to remember that you are not alone. Talking with a parent or trusted friend can always be a good idea when faced with overwhelming feelings. For some, however, this is not an option, and luckily, Wylie High is aware of this. Wylie has introduced many available resources in aiding the mental health of students and teachers. Among these is Mr. Miller, a Chaplain recently introduced to the Wylie community.
Mr. Miller is a Chaplain and a new resource available in aiding the mental health of both students and faculty. Although he is a licensed minister, Mr. Miller is strong in his ability to speak and relate to people from varying backgrounds. Whether students are Christian, atheist, or follow any other belief system, Mr. Miller is available for everyone. When asked about his goal here at Wylie, Mr. Miller says that he is not connected to Wylie High School and aims to be a person separate from the school who can maintain a strong level of confidentiality with those that choose to confide in him. As of now, the best place to find Mr. Miller is in Mr. Blakely’s room in the 100 hallway. When asked about a message he would like students and faculty to know, Mr. Miller said, āIām safe to talk to, and nothing you can say will shock me.ā
Whatever situation you may be going through, it is always helpful to talk to someone and share how you are feeling. At Wylie High School, students fortunately have many mental health resources to choose from. Mr. Miller, although new, is here to talk to anybody and is a great option for students and faculty that are looking to talk to somebody.
