As you probably have heard by now, Jannik Sinner won 2024’s Australian Open against Daniil Medvedev after being down two whole sets. This finale was the perfect start into the 2024 season after an incredibly unpredictable and fun buildup. Sinner will surely continue to dominate this season and earn more titles, as his career has just begun. However, as of now, this single win has proven plenty impressive and equally exciting for this young man.
Not only was this the Italian’s first ever Grand Slam title, but it is the first Grand Slam title won by an Italian man since 1967. This win in ‘67 was won by Adriano Panatta at Roland Garros. Panatta’s win was the last Grand Slam Italians would see for fifty-seven years. Not only did Jannik break this seemingly endless curse, but he was also dubbed the third Italian to ever actually win a Grand Slam Title.
In conclusion, Sinner is truly the embodiment of what a tennis player should strive to be. Despite his short time in the pro scene, he has already claimed the number four spot globally and is amongst the likes of Djokovic and Alcaraz. I and many others are ecstatic to see where his career will lead, but as of now he has already impressed the world.
