Wylie High School has added many new coaches and teachers in the past year, one of these being Coach Garcia. Coach Garcia is the primary coach for our school’s junior varsity team. Along with this, he is also a Spanish teacher for our high school. Garcia has expressed that he is ready to be a coach and a teacher simultaneously.
When asked about his thoughts of being the JV coach, he had this to say, “Soccer has been very important to me when I was growing up. Now having the chance to share my passions with the boys makes me thrilled to see them play the game we love. It’s an honor for me to be able to coach them and teach them the game of soccer. We are going to have a great season.”
The positive attitude held by Mr. Garcia is the main contributor to his earning of the position, but along with this, he also has a history of playing soccer. He played club soccer all while growing up and throughout high school. After high school ended, Garcia was a pivotal player at the University of McMurry and has used his experience to guide our newer players to become better players all-around.
Our junior varsity soccer team has high expectations for this season; Coach Garcia says, “We are going to have a great group of guys this year, which is very exciting. Each and every one of our players will compete with 100% effort in everything they do. My goal this season is to motivate our players to go out there and come together as a team to accomplish the goals we are looking forward to. I am sure we are going to have an amazing season this year, and I could not be more excited.”
Along with being an exceptional coach, Garcia is also a great teacher. Mr. Garcia, growing up in El Paso, started his teaching career in his hometown by being a substitute teacher. He later moved to Abilene to sub and ultimately become a full-time teacher for our very own school.
Overall, Coach Garcia has already played a part in this school’s system and will continue to be a long-term teacher and coach for our school. His positive attitude he controls throughout the days have really made an effect on the students around him.
