The mascot for Wylie High School in the past years has always been very full of emotion and outgoing, but this year it seems to be taking a different approach as our school’s mascot. In the most recent years, Logan Huffington was the man behind the mask, but he recently graduated this previous year. This sudden absence for the part had many students wondering who would step in. One kid, Lobokola Enduki, decided he would step in for the role and was successful in earning the position. Lobokola has decided to play a more nonchalant role as Spike this year. Is this to appeal more to the “quiet” and “cool” group of our school’s student body? Is it for his own pride and dignity not to do some dances and skits? No matter the answer, Lobo has worked many hours with the cheerleading team to become the best mascot he can become and his changes to the persona of our beloved Spike will be accepted with open arms. When asked about being the new mascot, he had this to say, “I will be trying my best to get through this football season and enjoy all of the chances I get to do new things.” Lobo, while having less enthusiasm, is still very fit for the spot and really shows it during our school pep rallies. He has participated in nearly all of the pep rallies thus far and has done a phenomenal job doing so. We are all very excited to see what is next for everyone’s favorite mascot, Spike.
