The Pure Gold Band recently finished out a successful marching season- earning 4th place in their Area Marching Competition. There is an abundance of hard work and perseverance that goes into creating the show that many use as a bathroom break or time to get concessions. Hours of practice, time, energy, focus, and determination go into the 7 minute performance put on every football game. There is no room for error. No subbing out players. No calling a time out. The band has 7 minutes to show off all of their hard work.

This year’s show was entitled “Another Brick in the Wall” and was a mashup of Pink Floyd hits over the years. With an inspiring pre show audio, props, signs, and beautiful music, the Pure Gold Band truly delivered a work of art. The show evoked a sense of unity within the band. The pre show audio stated, “Let there be hope.” The  Pure Gold Band has experienced a year of change with a complete new set of directors. Kyle McDonald-current head band director- entered a band that was shaken from the loss of their director. Still, Mr. McDonald entered with an open mind and open heart. He has brought the band together. So much so, that the band made history by placing in the top 5 at Area. When the theme of the show was chosen, there was no way to know that it would be so relevant to the students in band. The Pure Gold band held onto hope after a time of change and ended the season with a bang.
