KICKOFF OF FALL FOOTBALL

Wylie enters their fourth season in the 5A-2 Region I 3 District

Hello and welcome back football fans! The Wylie Bulldogs are starting off the season 1-1. After a tough loss in a non-district, away game to Burleson, the Bulldogs made a few adjustments to turn things around leading to a home victory against the Monterey Plainsmen in week two. The Bulldogs and fans are hoping to keep this momentum going into week three where they will face off against the Cooper Cougars in the annual Southtown Showdown which was canceled in the 2020-2021 football season due to a rising number of covid cases within the players and staff. This being said, the rivalry is long awaited, and the stands are sure to be packed. However, this game is not the only thing the fans look forward to this year. Last season, the Bulldogs went to the playoffs for the first time since moving up to the 5A DII Division but unfortunately suffered a heartbreaking defeat to Grapevine. However, moving forward, the addition of many new coaches over the past two seasons is bringing hope to make a deeper dive into the playoffs for this year and many years to follow hopefully leading to another state title for Wylie.
