The Making of a Leader
April 1, 2019
Junior Nicole Englin recently attended the Frances Hesselbein Student Leadership Program in Colorado Springs, Colorado over spring break. This program was established by the Military Child Education Coalition and is in partnership with the United States Air Force Academy.
Englin was one of ten students chosen out of hundreds of students from across the country. This program specifically helped her in efforts in the Student 2 Student Program that aims to welcome new students to the area and get plugged in with the high school.
“I got a lot of ideas from other kids who have strong S2S programs,” Englin said. “The experience influenced me as a leader and will help me to better our S2S program here.”
S2S sponsor Kendall Harrison was glad that she was able to send one of her students to this esteemed program which will help S2S as a whole.
Englin is very grateful for this program especially because she was a military child and moved around many times when growing up. While there, Englin also learned many things that she can apply in all areas of life.
“I learned a lot about delegating a group and empathizing with others, which are areas I could improve upon,” Englin said.
Englin had a great time at the week-long program meeting people from all over the country, and she believes it will impact her for days to come.
“The experience was amazing,” Englin said. “I met so many new people and new ideas and am even more passionate about S2S.”
