The boys’ varsity basketball team has begun their much anticipated season. The Bulldogs have already won the Wylie Catclaw Classic and accumulated a record of 14-2. We spoke to junior guard Duncan Bacon and senior center Kyle Roberts about their expectations for the season.

“Just like any other team, we have long term goals, but for the most part, we just try to take it one game at a time,” said Bacon.

Both players expressed the great talent and potential for the team. The team wants to come back better than ever and push themselves further than ever. They want to continue to compete and go to the State Tournament.

“As a senior, I just want to do what I need to do to make sure we win,” said Roberts. “I want to keep the energy and high intensity, so we can win as many games as we can.”

The boys have a strong group of returning seniors, but they also have added some younger faces to the team. Sophomores Stran Blair, Austin Brewer, Shayden Payne, and Payton Brooks are new additions to the team. The team feels that they have a very high intensity and great energy. They feel that the whole team works really well together and has a strong bond.

Roberts said, “We’re all friends, and we stay close to each other by hanging out with each other. We might mess with each other a whole lot, but we’re usually just joking around and messing with each other.”

Both boys emphasized how good the bond and chemistry of the team is. Everyone on the team enjoys being around one another and working to get the best out of each other everyday.

Bacon said, “This group of guys is a great team. We love being around each other. We are able to do anything we set our minds to.”
